It is noted for its similarity to the nearby Gooderham Building in Toronto, and other Flatiron-style buildings.HistoryThe building was completed in 1988. It was built as a residential condominium, which still holds true today, with a small amount of space for commercial use.The area was infilled in 1865 and once the site of the old Yonge Street Wharf.Architecture and amenities25 The Esplanade was designed by Matsui Baer Vanstone, who also designed Grand Harbour in Toronto. Its Postmodern design references the Beaux-Arts style among others. It is noted for its similar architecture to other Flatiron buildings. The condominium features exercise facilities, lounge, billiard room, outdoor private "skypark", recreation room, hot tub and sauna.On ground level there is a convenience store, dry cleaner and Canada Post Postal Station A, with a unique postal code M5W. There is a Novotel Hotel located at 45 The Esplanade, on the east side of this building.Parking spaces are not available for purchase as the spaces are owned and operated by the Toronto Parking Authority, but are available to be rented. The parking lot is located south of the building, identified as St. Lawrence Garage, Carpark #43. It contains 2008 spaces.
