Aid for Kids (AFK) was established in 2005 as a 501©3 non-profit organization in Houlton, Maine. AFK is licensed in Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon, and Washington. We also have an office in Vietnam.
AFK is approved by the CFC (Combined Federal Campaign – Federal workers charity fund) as one of America’s Best Charities, approved by ICA (Independent Charities of America) and CCA (Children’s Charity of America). All U.S. staff are volunteers and most services are donated (including office space, supplies, internet, utilities, etc.). Our overhead is always less than two percent and sometimes less than one percent. When we see a need we meet it – without formal needs assessments or costly focus groups. We are committed to developing humanitarian aid projects such as nutrition and feeding programs, providing medical personnel, equipment and supplies, building shelters, developing educational and training programs, student sponsorships, and meeting emergency needs for children and families.
Our Mission Statement: We work to improve the lives of children worldwide.
