ARK is a non-profit animal welfare organization begun by Marie Hunt of Lakefield, Ontario, Canada in 1999. (Feline only). The organization is active in the Lakefield, Peterborough, Oshawa and Whitby areas. The goal of ARK is to place cats and kittens in permanent homes, to aid stray and abandoned cats and to
educate the public concerning the significance of
controlling the cat population via spay and neuters.
ARK also works with several municipal shelters to find homes for these rescue cats.
Our centre is located at 3307 Lakefield Road, in Lakefield, Ontario, just before the village sign.
We have a thrift shop on our property as well . Our cats are all socialized, vaccinated and spayed or neutered.
Adoptions are done locally by word of mouth or by participating in the Petsmart's Luv a Pet centre in the Whiby store.
Each year ARK finds homes for over 1200 cats and kittens.
Our adoption fee is $100 - this includes the cats vaccinations and neuter or spay if it is a mature cat . Kittens are adopted with a $50 spay or neuter voucher (copy of neuter or spay certificate is required) We have a 60 day return policy if it doesn't "work out" (a replacement or fee returned)
Please call us at 705-651-0069 or 705-652-3427, let us know your preference of age, color, sex, and we will do our very best to match you with a furry friend .
Any donations are gladly accepted, and income tax receipts will be issued. We also accept donations of cleaning supplies, such as bleach, dish soap, cat food (wet or dry), clumping litter, cat beds, Canadian Tire money, Gift cards from pet shops, and grocery store gift cards, where ever cat items are located. Thank you.
