More about Cheakamus Huckfest

Come spend the evening of the 9th of September enjoying the Cheakamus River and its impressive waterfall: Balls to the Wall! Whether you're a kayaker, water rat or simply a babe who is adventurous and loves adrenaline, you'll dig this.

This Huckfest will be a friendly gathering for the steeziest hucks, most epic crashes and most creative way to run the drop. We will also have music at the falls.

This is an awesome way to dress up and come for the SHOWDOWN with mad-style! You're encouraged to bring whatever funky attire you can put your hands on!

The waterfall is about 15 feet high and is known to be a good beginner one. It has calm water at the entrance, making for an easy approach to the lip, a nice frothy landing allowing for soft crashes and a perfect recovery pool where all the gear/swimmers can regroup. That being said, we've also seen a few trashings happen at the bottom so be aware of the potential downtime and make sure you have someone covering your ass!

The hucking will start at around 17h00, and last until just after dusk. We will then turn off the lights shining on the waterfall gather at the party spot where music and lights will be waiting for us all. We will have the award ceremony there and continue the night until the last one falls.

There will be camping spots available for that night all around the area. This is not a regular camping site so we need to be respectful, leave it as we found it and stay as subtle as possible.

BYOB (avoid glass bottles please) and let's make this 4th edition of the Cheakamus Huckfest a wicked success again! Drinking is permitted throughout the event, however, please exercise caution when drinking around turbulent water. By playing it smart, the Huckfest will stay afloat and remain a late summer classic!

Since the event is water level dependent, the date is subject to change. Let's aim for the 9th but keep in mind we may have to postpone it due to water levels.

***DONATION***

Keep in mind all expenses will be getting out of your friends' pockets so please bring 5$ or 10$ at the event and give back to the community, sharing and respect are the pillars of a healthy community.

***LIABILITY***

This event is being created by a group of friends who want to share their passion and enthusiasm for rivers and the white water community. If you aren't familiar with waterfalls or whitewater, don't hesitate to ask more experienced people for informations/instructions. Each person will be responsible for his/her own actions, decisions and safety.
