The "I manage my finances myself" mentality seems practical because everyone wants to avoid fees. Someone once said to me, "If you look hard enough online, you can find out anything you need to know". Very true. Why would I have an advisor, when all the answers can be easily found? The reality is that in order to find everything you need to know, you need to know what questions to ask.

Working at Investors Group, and constantly learning something new in the financial industry is exciting, but worrisome. There is SO MUCH information and SO MANY strategies to know about. Do you know of a product that will guarantee your retirement income, regardless of the market conditions? Do you know what exactly CESG grants can be used towards, or what options you have with your RESPs if your child decides to not use them? Do you know what mortgage life insurance is and what its limitations are? As a business owner, do you have a will, or know the importance of having a succession plan?

There is a lot to know, but with the guidance of a financial advisor, you can take advantage of the best strategies and tools available to you.
