The UBC Asian Centre is located in the Vancouver campus of the University of British Columbia. It is the building for the Asian Library, as well as serving as the offices of the staff and faculty of the Department of Asian Studies.Associate Professor of Indian Studies and Buddhism, Shotaro Iida submitted a proposal to the director of Sanyo Corporation to transport and re-assemble the Sanyo Pavilion at Expo '70 to the UBC Campus. The acceptance of the proposal led to the completion of the Asian Centre in 1981.Located behind the C. K. Choi Building and in front of the Nitobe Memorial Garden, the Asian Centre is one of many buildings on the UBC campus that has become iconic.See also C. K.
