The Howe Sound Marine Rescue Society has been funding the local Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station for over 8 years. Previously known as the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary – Pacific, our all-volunteer unit has been providing 24/7/365 response capabilities in our designated area of operations in co-ordination with Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) operating out of Victoria B.C. Our unit participates in cooperation exercises and missions with the Squamish RCMP detachment, BC ambulance Service, Squamish Volunteer Fire Department and Squamish Ground Search and Rescue. We have responded to a number of calls in cooperation with the Squamish Emergency Program and JRCC. Our unit has been involved in many high profile operations such as the Squamish Terminals Fire on April 16, 2015 as well as many Mayday humanitarian operations. Any time our civil emergency services need access or transportation to sites unreachable by land, Squamish’s Station 4 is always ready and available to assist in a capable and professional manner.
