Jasper Skating and Hockey Camp with Gaston Schaeffer and Tom Molloy

Figure skating and power skating instructor Gaston Schaeffer is a former National Figure Skating Coach for Switzerland who has coached European and World Competitors in Figure and Speed Skating. He is a former Featured Skater with the Ice Capades and holds a Phd in Body Mechanics.

Hockey instruction is led by Tom Molloy. A two-time National Champion as a player with the Bemidji State University Beavers, Tom has coached SAIT, Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary, in addition to a season with the Salzburg Red Bulls U-18 club team and co-authored "The ABCs of International Hockey". He has presented his coaching system at the International Ice Hockey Federation Coaching Conference and both Finland and Austria have adopted the system for their national minor hockey associations. He was a junior high and high school teacher for 30+ years and has coached every level of minor hockey.

Hockey players will rotate between hour long sessions of hockey instruction and power skating totaling five of each. They will practice stick-handling extensively, along with shooting, passing, and angling. Small area games will be featured in every practice to provide the players an opportunity to apply the skills they have been taught and to ensure that the players enjoy themselves.
