The year was 1987; it was a warm spring day in the month of May when Stanley Rampersaud proudly opened the doors of the very first Calypso Hut Restaurant. It specialized in the finest Guyanese Style Chinese cuisine that was relatively unknown in the city of Toronto.

Hard work, determination and generosity were the key ingredients to making this dream an overnight success. And the success continues, 26 years later and Calypso Hut (and also Hut Like Pepper, its sister restaurant) is widely known throughout Ontario and loved by many.
