Social Media House Rules

GOALS
Oshawa Centre maintains a social media presence to reach out to its customers and provides an opportunity for dialogue on a wide range of topics, including fashion, promotional events, industry trends, current events and more. Comments posted via these platforms are important to and valued by Oshawa Centre. To ensure this type of interaction is open and productive, certain rules must be observed.

RULES
The vocabulary and content employed by the users of Oshawa Centre’s social media platforms must be respectful and courteous at all times. Users who violate these conditions may be temporarily or permanently banned. Furthermore, Oshawa Centre‘s communications team reserves the right to edit or delete any content of the following nature:
- Obscene, abusive, hateful, sexist, racist, homophobic, xenophobic or disrespectful comments about any person or group of persons
- Aggressive, profane or violent statements
- Comments of a defamatory nature aimed at a person or an organization
- Comments that violate personal privacy
- Comments that infringe copyright
- Comments that advocate or condone illegal activity
- Comments of a political or religious nature
- Comments that make excessive use of uppercase lettering
- Details that reveal someone else’s personal information (telephone number, email address, home address) or the contents of a private conversation
- Solicitation or advertising, be it for a product, service or cause
- Remarks made under an assumed name – Oshawa Centre’s platforms are not anonymous
- Information provided using someone else’s identity.
