More about Paradise Weddings

I'm Elizabeth, or Liz, and I am a native Calgarian (yes, we actually exist!). My husband and I have 2 adorable girls, ages 11 and 4, and a Chiweenie. We like to do the "usual" family stuff, but our favourite family activity (when we aren't travelling, of course) is board games, and we have a huge collection! When I was young, I travelled a lot with my family. The love of travel I gained made a career in the travel industry a no-brainer. And when I booked my first destination wedding, I loved the experience, so I decided I would specialize in this special market from then on.

I have planned numerous destination weddings since 2008, including my own, and have 14 years of travel industry experience. After years of learning the Dos (and Don'ts) of executing a wonderful destination wedding, I decided to start Paradise Weddings in the fall of 2014.

Once you have decided to work with me, we will become a team. Of course the best way to start is by getting to know each other! This is the best way to ensure you get everything you want from your special holiday. From there, I am with you every step of the way, to ensure everything is as perfect as it can be.

Expertise:

I started out by taking the Travel Counseling program at SAIT, where I graduated on the Dean's List and completed my practicum. I then had a job at a student focused agency, that I left just before Eve was born. After enjoying my maternity leave, I found a position with a storefront agency where I learned a lot, and this was where I decided to focus on weddings and romance. I stayed on for quite a few years, working in the office, and then from home until Kenzie came along.

I briefly considered not continuing a career in my field after mat leave with Kenzie (silly really...). But my love for travel and weddings won out, and I went to work for a wedding focused agency. This position really solidified my career direction, and I knew that starting my own agency was the right decision.

Over the course of my career, I have continued to learn as much as I can about my industry and trends. I have a number of accreditations and certifications including:

Certified Travel Counselor (CTC)
Certified Destination Wedding Coordinator(DWC)
South Asian Wedding Specialist
AMResorts Master Agent
Hard Rock WOW Specialist (Weddings on the Water)
Love Mexico Specialist

Part of my continuing education also includes a lot of hands-on, in destination learning. I regularly travel to attend conferences, and inspections of hotels and resorts, and private venues, which allows me to offer first hand experience to you.
