Boys & Girls Club of Greater Victoria - Parenting Programs

As you know, parents can have a demanding role navigating new territory as their child moves into adolescence, walking toward adulthood. Issues such as substance use, defiance, rebellion, social media, or mental health concerns can affect the way that we parent our children. These challenges can happen in any family and parents might feel guilty, blamed, isolated, and unsure of what to do when issues arise. At Boys and Girls Club Services of Greater Victoria, we offer support to parents in need, by providing the tools and resources to assist with this tricky process of fostering healthy relationships with their children as they begin their journey into independence and maturity.

We have 3 Groups:
Parents Together
This is an open, ongoing, group held on Tuesday nights at our head office in Esquimalt. This group has an educational component coupled with support from other parents facing similar issues with their teens (ages 13-19) where we explore these challenges together in a safe and supportive environment.

Parents in the Know
A 6-10 week educational group designed to provide tools and support for parents of teens (ages 13-19), who would like to begin to explore their parenting and the challenges that arise. We are currently running one right now and will be offering another group in January, 2018, out of Oak Bay High School.

Parenting Without Power Struggles
A 6-10 week educational group aimed at parents with pre-teens (ages 9-12) looking to examine their parenting styles and abilities, desiring to foster healthy relationships with their pre-teens. We will be running one out of Central Saanich in January, 2018 and the Westshore in the Spring!

These groups are facilitated through Boys and Girls Club Services of Greater Victoria by qualified professionals.
