Meet the Artist:

Debbie has lived in Nova Scotia all her life. She is married and has three grown children and 5 grandchildren and has had many foster children over the years.
She worked as a custodian for many years, while doing that she started painting murals on the school walls for decoration, as she has always had a creative side to her and was looking for an outlet. Due to health reasons she had to take an early retirement.
Debbie has always had her parent’s cottage and now her own in Port Hilford, NS, where she was an avid beachcomber and passionate sea glass collector. Since her retirement she has combed numerous beaches for sea glass. Making jewellery for gifts and donations, she decided to start selling at Halifax Seaport market and when the cruise ships are in, as a way to make an income since she was retired, she is now in her fourth year there. She enjoys the interaction with people from all over the world coming off the cruise ships. She receives emails and letters as well as international orders from them.
True beach glass is polished to perfection through decades of being tumbled through surf and sand, then delivered to the shoreline to be found by beachcombers like her. Debbie also makes recycled glass jewellery as she is unable to walk the beaches as much due to health reasons.
Each one of Debbie’s designs is an original, as she always makes each piece as an individual…with wrapping wire around it to allow as much light through it as possible…never starting with a pattern but always ending with a design.
