The Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation was established in November 1987 with the primary purpose of raising funds for new and replacement patient care equipment. The Foundation is striving to maintain current service levels and acquire up-to-date equipment to provide optimum service so that all the needs of the sick and critically ill are addressed. Improving health care means improved service for the many patients of the area and is also important in recruiting and retaining qualified medical staff.
The Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital currently services the district of Port au Port/ Bay St. George with a population base of 19,000. The forty-four bed acute care center provides a variety of Inpatient and Outpatient service with more than 1,300 Inpatient stays and more than 33,000 Emergency visits annually. There are 2 local medical clinics and a Psychiatry clinic in addition five district clinics located in the outlying areas of Cape St. George, Lourdes, Stephenville Crossing, St. George’s, and Jeffrey’s.
