The substantial amount of data indicating that exercise is a preventive measure for all measures of mental and physical health is truly remarkable. Exercise is unbelievably beneficial. Unfortunately there is a higher risk of sudden cardiac death among athletes that non-athletes due to the strain put on the heart.

This risk is present in young athletes (under 35) due to congenital heart disease and in masters athletes (over 35) due to coronary heart disease. We plan to research these two categories of athletes and understand what the prevalence of these diseases are in our population and how we can help them continue to exercise in a safe and effective manner.

We hope to reduce the risk associated with exercise through our four established pillars of:
- Screening
- Education
- Advocacy
- Research
