The St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership (STELIP) began its work on February 28, 2011. It is the vision of STELIP to make St. Thomas and Elgin County culturally diverse, welcoming, caring and inclusive communities that will retain its residents, welcome newcomers and will provide them the opportunity to successfully integrate, contribute to, and benefit from social, cultural and economic inclusion. The St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership will be inclusive of all immigrants in the St. Thomas-Elgin community and will work towards equal participation while promoting social justice and will be based on the principles of inclusivity, collaboration, empowerment and sustainability
