St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store

The Store is operated by paid employees and is helped by several volunteers. Located at 1620 Merivale Rd. next to the Merivale Mall, it is opened 6 days a week. All goods in the Store were donated by residents throughout the city and dropped in bins.

Ottawa has 19 bins, or collection points; they are listed on reverse sided of this page. The bins are emptied by our trucks and brought to a central location. The goods are sorted, put on the shelves, priced and eventually will find it’s consumer.

New goods are brought in the Store on a daily basis; this in turn generates an interest for daily visits by the locals.

Any person or family in the city is a potential beneficiary. Individuals benefit when they purchase clothing and other household necessities such as furniture and kitchenware at reasonable prices, or when these items are given to them free when they have no money to pay. The general public also benefits when donated items are reused instead of being discarded and sent to landfill sites.

The Store offers a range of items

• lady’s, men’s and children’s wear

• used furniture

• books, magazines, toys

• linens, house wares

• small appliances

• jewellery

• and just about anything you might have in a household.
