Located at The Waterfront Marina, just a short walk north along the seashore from downtown Nanaimo, Vancouver Island Catamaran Sailing is surrounded in the distance by snowcapped mountains, countless islands, beautiful seashores, stunning forests, parks and hiking trails. This seaside community is rich in pioneer history, culture, arts, fine restaurants, live theatre and many outdoor activities.

A must see is nearby Newcastle Island - a Provincial Marine Park - (know as "Saysutshun" by the Snuneymuxw people). Its 22 km of hiking trails, secluded individual and group camping facilities, and beaches provide a wondrous escape from urban life - except for the notorious albino racoons! This enchanting island has a vibrant First Nations culture and history as well as a long history of coal mining, a sandstone quarry and herring salteries.
