Dr. Michael Clarfield, Director of The Sports Medicine Specialists has now opened a new clinic in Vaughan. He graduated from The University of Toronto in 1980. He was the first physician to practice full time Sports Medicine in Toronto. His dream was to establish a high quality one stop Sports Medicine clinic which finally opened in 1991. It is now the largest Sport Medicine Clinic in Canada.

Dr. Sean Y. Abdulla is our Sports Specialist Chiropractor and Clinic Director. Dr. Abdulla completed his post-secondary education at Wilfrid Laurier University where he attained a BA (Hons) in Kinesiology and Physed. He went on to complete a Masters in Biomechanics at York University:Kinesiology and Health Science Department. Dr. Abdulla's strong interest in manual care, sports injuries and rehabilitation led him to pursue a career in chiropractic at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He completed the 4-year Doctor of Chiropractic program in 2012, graduating with Clinic Honours. Upon graduation, Dr. Abdulla was accepted into the prestigious CMCC Sport Sciences Residency Program (2012) to complete 2 additional years of specialty training towards a Fellowship from the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) which he successfully achieved in December 2014.

Dr. Abdulla has completed other specialty training in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture (McMaster University), Active Release Techniques, Graston: Level I, Sports taping, SFMA and First Responder: CPR Level HCP and AED.

Karla Leong is our Certified Athletic Therapist, Registered Kinesiologist and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. She completed her Kinesiology degree at York University and her Bachelor of Health Science in Athletic Therapy at Sheridan College. She is also a First Responder and regular medical staff with the Canadian National Youth Women's Soccer program. As medical support staff she's been given the opportunity to work international tournaments such as ones held by CONCACAF, she has traveled around North American and as far as the Cayman Islands with the youth national team.

Karla is primarily a manual therapist, preferring to do the major of her treatments hands on - something she has gotten used to while working in the field with various sports such as rugby, football and lacrosse.
