Victoria Curling Club

Curling started in the City of Victoria with the determination and hard work of W.J. Bill Hyde. In 1950 the club signed a lease for the land with the City of Victoria, but it was not until 1952 that progress and construction was undertaken. The construction was delayed by the material shortages created by the Korean War. The grand opening of the Victoria Curling Club occurred in February 1953. The Victoria Curling Club also known as The Victoria Curling Centre has eight sheets of ice, and the largest membership of any curling centre in the province of B.C. In the summer months our floor space is available for rental for concerts and other events. In 2012 we will be celebrating our 60th Anniversary. Watch for details on the big events and celebrations.
