The four programs offered through Volunteer Terrace are:

Community Volunteer Program - those who are interested in volunteering but don't know where to go? We can connect you with 18 different non-profit societies in Terrace. Some of these include Happy Gang Society, Ksan Society, and Heritage Park Museum. Or if you're looking for less of a commitment, we offer several one day events as well. Helping Handyman Program - this is one of our longest running and most successful programs since we started providing services in 1992. Handyman services include minor home repairs, free home safety assessments, and minor home modifications to help adapt the living space of the senior. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life of seniors and help keep them living safe and independently in their homes. Examples of some of these services include spring and fall yard cleanup, snow shoveling a safe path from the road to the door steps of a seniors home, install grab bars, and wheelchair ramps.

Literacy Programs - Volunteer Terrace has been offering adult literacy services to the community for 17 years. Under this umbrella, we have the Community Readers and Writers Program, which is designed for adults with low literacy. This past year tutors spent 500 hours working directly with literacy learners. We also have the ESLSAP (English as a Second Language Settlement Assistance Program), which helps learners find out more about Canada.

Terrace Better at Home Program - this is our newest program; services began in January 2014 and its purpose is to help seniors with day-to-day tasks so they can continue to live independently in their homes and remain connected to their community. Currently, we are offering housekeeping services through We Care, a professional home care service, at discounted rates based on the senior's income. In the Fall of 2014, we will be launching our Friendly Visitor service which will match trained volunteers with seniors who are at risk of social isolation and require friendly companionship.
