2754 32 Service Battalion RCACC

2754 RCACC was formed on November 1st, 1963, affiliated with 5 Column, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, and began delivering the Army Cadet programme to the young men of the Downsview community under the direction of the officers of the Cadet Services of Canada, a component of the Canadian Army Non-Permanent Active Militia.

In 1965, the affiliated unit changed to 1 Toronto Service Battalion as the three separate armed services of Canada underwent unification into the Canadian Forces. Another significant change came in July 1975 when the Canadian Government change “boys” to “persons” in the relevant legislation, allowing girls to officially join in on cadet training programmes.

The most significant change in the last decade came in 2002 when the cadet corps moved from the old Denison Armoury at Dufferin St and Wilson Ave to the new armoury at Sheppard Ave W and Allen Rd.

In addition to the mandatory training programme, the cadet corps is currently pleased to be offering to the cadets optional programmes that include a military brass & reed marching band, an orienteering team, a competition marksmanship team, and a summer biathlon “run & shoot” team.
