La Colonie Jeunesse Acadienne (CJA) is a non-for-profit, children’s summer camp in Church Point, Nova Scotia. The camp, which began operation in 1960, is located in a 2-hectare mixed forest on the campus of Université Sainte-Anne. The camp’s facilities include two large yurts that serve as sleeping quarters for leaders and campers, washrooms, and showers; all facilities are wheelchair accessible. The CJA has access to Université Sainte-Anne’s biology laboratory and greenhouse, indoor pool, cafeteria, games field, and theatrical arts centre for its summer camp programs.
The summer camp operates during a six-week period in July and August. In 2016, approximately two hundred youth were registered for the camp, making it the largest French-speaking summer camp in Nova Scotia.
During the year while the yurts are not being used by the summer camps, they are available to the public, making it a great camping location for couples, children, and groups. To book a night in a yurt please email or call us today.
