What is AJ Creations Company?

AJ Creations Co is an independently owned design shop, specializing in floral and watercolour. I believe that people should have access to affordable, unique, quality artwork for the home and office. Most of my art pieces are born out of a deeply felt emotional experience that I am going through. I connect to God, people, and the world around me through art. When I am having trouble expressing myself in words, these thoughts and feelings come to life on a canvas. My mission as an artist is to create things that you will emotionally connect with as well as bring glory to the God that I love and serve! My art testifies to the truth of God's Word. He gave me this gift and I am so thankful to share it with others!

I am also open to personalizing my creations to best suit you. If you see something you like that would better inspire you with a different word, colour scheme, or material, send me a message and we will work together.

How did it all begin?

I have always enjoyed being creative and used to sketch and draw all the time as a child. As I grew into a teenager and young adulthood, I focused more on my social life and playing sports. I also struggled with perfectionism and low self-worth, which meant that I believed that if I couldn't be "perfect" or the "best" at something, it wasn't worth doing.

My passion to create art was revived in January of 2017 after what became one of the hardest, driest times of my life both spiritually and emotionally. Struggling through this season of depression, one day I stopped at a Michael's, walked down the paint aisle and decided to spontaneously pick up some art supplies. As they say, "the rest is history!" It sounds cheesy, but I like to think that I didn't find art, art found me! But more than that, I believe that God has given me this gift to help me connect with Him, to bless and encourage others, and to enjoy the creation around me at a deeper level! My art journey is much the same as my faith journey- it is messy but it is altogether beautiful!

I started an Instagram page @ajcreationsco in February 2017 and was humbled and encouraged when others started asking me if my artwork was for sale! Making this shop official in June 2017 has been a huge step for me. I am so thankful to God for the ability to create art that others love and connect with.

Why AJ Creations Company?

My full name is Andrea Janine Klaassen. A few years ago I changed all my social media accounts to just "Andrea Janine" because I liked the way it sounded. In order to be consistent, I decided to incorporate these first two initials into my shop name. I chose "creations" because all of the inspiration for my artwork comes from the creation around me. God is the perfect unlimited Creator and I am so humbled that I am given the gift of interpreting His creation to produce unique art. I also work with a variety of media and materials (wood, canvas, acrylic, oil, watercolour, custom journals, signs,etc) and so I didn't want to limit myself in my name. Creations is all-encompassing. That is how AJ Creations came to be!

Who is Andrea Janine?

I am spontaneous. I am an adventurous. I am a loved child of God. I cry alot. I also laugh alot. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I am an auntie, daughter, sister, and friend. I love plants and have way too many. I am a prairie girl. I am a wanna be runner and a lover of good, strong coffee. I fall often, but by God's grace I always get back up again! Like my artwork, I am always a work-in-progress... and will be perfect on the day of Christ Jesus!
