Amethyst Mine Panorama

Amethyst Mine Panorama is Canada's original Amethyst Mine.

This active working amethyst mine is located 60 KM East of Thunder Bay Ontario. Visitors can learn about the history, geology and mineralogy of Canadian amethyst, dig their own amethyst and purchase hand-made amethyst crafts all in one visit.
No tools or special clothing are required; just bring your sense of adventure.

A large digging area, that contains lots of amethyst is yours to explore on a "pick your own” basis.

Amethyst Mine Panorama is open for tours and digging from May 15 until October 15, seven days a week, weekends and all holidays included. This is an outdoor attraction, so dress for the weather.

Take Highway 11/17 East from Thunder Bay for 60 KM. Turn North onto East Loon Road and follow the signs to adventure.
