Athenaeum Hotel at Chautauqua Institution

Our historic three-season hotel was built in 1881 to serve visitors of Chautauqua Institution; a legacy that has evolved and expanded today. Guests of the hotel will be treated to the charms of this Victorian-style hotel, with each of the 152 rooms reflecting unique elements of the past. The Athenaeum also features Heirloom Restaurant, est. 2014, to serve hotel guests and visitors in-season.

Throughout Chautauqua Institution’s summer season, Athenaeum Hotel guests are able to take advantage of learning, recreational, and entertainment programs that are part of the 140 year tradition of the Chautauqua experience. The lecture series, concerts, art programs, and educational opportunities are all included as part of the Chautauqua Institution gate pass, which is necessary for in-season guests.
