Growing up I always had an "inventive itch." If I wasn't creating or inventing something I'd feel very unsettled. I would always have projects spread across my bedroom or family’s dining room table for days – or even weeks! Rather than jewelry, it was actually more painting, drawing, coloring and even candle-making. I was born to create, I was born to paint the world around me.

As I grew up that need for building only strengthened. My dad started getting me into the farms shop, learning some craftsman ship by helping build a cabin on our property, and my first introduction to welding, but I never dreamed it could be a significant part of my life.

When I entered university, although I really wanted to pursue art, I didn't know how to make it into a career, and instead turned to my ever-growing sense of business to find some sort of success. After two years of studies, multiple internships and temporary placements, I knew it was time for something more creative. Welding. Not everyone looks at welding as a creative craft or career, yet creativity is all I seen in it. You had the opportunity to design, plan and fabricate stuff every single day. Heck- even sweeping up a shop floor seemed more rewarding to me than trying to break into the business world as a young woman!
After obtaining my 2nd year in my Alberta apprenticeship, while working for both production shops + small scale fabrications shops the economy took a turn and I was out of work. Now thankful for my university studies I am currently working as an Office Manager for an oilfield service company. That “inventive itch” has grown over the two years of being in the office.

Spending evenings playing with wire-bending and painting were just not cutting it so I started to order up the supplies required to start in on some jewelry-making! I LOVE IT! It is such a great creative outlet, and pairing it with my love for the outdoors has only made it even more rewarding.
