Blue Surf is owned and operated by Matt Bartol a resident of the Blue Mountains, Cabarete Dominican Republic and Key Largo Florida, having the opportunity to ride some of the best waves and flat water in the world allows Matt bring to the shop the most up to date gear and trends affecting water sports today.

Matt's Biography:

Matt Bartol attended the University of Life, studied engineering at Laurentian University and is a sheet metal worker by trade. Born in Slovenia, Matt travelled to Canada at the early age of 5 and since has journeyed extensively to places such as Venezuela, Mexico, most of the Caribbean, Austria, Italy, all of Canada and parts of the U.S.

Matt chose the ‘surf’’ business to get away from the corporate scene and focus on what he truly is passionate about and that’s ‘Surf Culture’! Matt is stoked to open his new shop Blue Surf in Craigleith and welcomes all with a friendly aloha!

As well, Matt started his company, Blue Mountain Kite boarding in Collingwood four years ago and it’s the only school with a physical location on a private beach. Other schools work out of their cars at public beaches. Matt is a certified kite and SUP instructor.

Matt is also actively involved in water sports all year long with a winter kiteboarding centre in Cabarete, Domincan Republic, which makes him very unique in Ontario and this allows him to be at the cutting edge of what ‘s new and exciting in the surf world.

Having the opportunity to partner up with the best brands in the kite, SUP and bike world, Matt’s passion for life and adventure is apparent through his tangible and exciting personality!
