Boys and Girls Club of Bay Mills/Brimley

The Boys & Girls Club of Bay Mills is a local, autonomous affiliate of the Boys & Girls Club of America, whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens. As an affiliate of the Boys & Girls Club of American since September of 2001, our Club is part of their 140-year-old “movement,” which includes over 3000 Clubs, serving over 4 million girls and boys.

Our Club follows a youth development strategy which seeks to develop four basic senses, or feelings, in our members: a sense of belonging, a sense of usefulness, a sense of influence, and a sense of competence. Our staff aims to provide our members the opportunity to grow as individuals through participation in age specific and individually appropriate enrichment activities. Through the Boys & Girls Club of Bay Mills/Brimley, our members are given the chance to establish lasting friendships, skill development, self-esteem values, self-discipline, and respect for others. Because our location on the Bay Mills Indian Reservation and our Native American membership, the Boys & Girls Club of Bay Mills/Brimley offers a wide variety of opportunities to learn and explore the Native American culture.

It is the goal of our Club to serve the needs of families, while addressing the special interests and concerns of their children. Core programs engage young people in activities with adults, peers, and family members that enable them to develop the skills needed to reach their full potential. Based on physical, emotional, cultural, and social needs and interests of the boys and girls, and recognizing developing principals, the Club offers activities in five areas: character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts/cultural development, and sports, fitness, and recreation.
