Volunteers are available to accompany patient and family through end-of-life care. Phone consultations, respite for care givers and sitting with patients, either in the home or a health care facility, are part of the service.
Grief Support
Grieving is hard and lonely work. It can take a surprising amount of energy just to get through a day. Talking to someone can help. We offer individual and group support sessions. Bereavement interventions are provided for agencies or groups who have experienced the death of a co-worker or colleague. This is an opportunity for people to debrief their loss, share concerns and facilitate recovery.
Equipment Loan
B.V. Hospice has palliative care beds and mattresses, a floor-to-ceiling pole, bed trapese and other specialized equipment available for loan at no charge.
The Red Cross Society (www.redcross.ca) can also provide numerous home care items. Call the switchboard operator at Bulkley Valley District Hospital, 250-847-2611.
Ceremony of Remembering at Christmas
This simple ceremony is for those people wishing to remember loved ones at a time when the emotions of grief are most difficult and out of harmony with the feelings of the festive season.
