More about Calgary International Auto & Truck Show

The Calgary Motor Dealers Association (CMDA) is a non-profit organization which represents 77 new vehicle franchised dealers in the City of Calgary. It was formed in 1951 for the enhancement of the industry and the betterment of the community. The CMDA is closely affiliated with the Motor Dealers Association of Alberta (MDA) which has over 300 new vehicle franchised dealers.
Keeping Calgarians our top priority

The Calgary Motor Dealers Association, (CMDA) is extremely proud to be an organization that continually gives back to the community they do business with. In addition to the countless hours and funds that the Calgary dealers put toward different charities throughout the year, the Calgary International Auto & Truck Show donates the majority of its proceeds from our annual show to local charities.

The 2014 Vehicles & Violins Gala raised $345,000 for three local charities. This year marks the 16th anniversary of the Gala and the committee selected charities for 2015 are; Fresh Start Recovery Centre, Kids Help Phone and Make-A-Wish Southern Alberta. We are proud to say that this event has raised over 2.9 million since its inception.

In May 2013 at an event in Toronto, the CMDA was honoured to receive from the ALS Societies across Canada the Sidney Valo Exceptional Fundraising Program award.

As our city continues to grow so does our organization as we have several new dealerships slated to open in the next couple of years.

The CMDA has continued to sponsor the Motor Dealers Association of Alberta’s Charity Golf Classic. Held in Red Deer last June we helped raise $340,000 for Special Olympics Alberta. This brings the total in the 30 years since inception to $5,894,118.

With proceeds from the 2013 Auto Show, we were pleased and honored to be able to purchase and donate a new bus for Calgary HandiBus. The CMDA has three buses on the road helping to serve Calgarians.

In December, the CMDA members will again join forces in the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank Society’s Annual Mayor’s Christmas Food Drive by collecting donations at their dealerships. In 2013, the CMDA made a donation of just under $100,000 of food and monies collected.

The CMDA continues to help our youth continue their education in the automotive industry with our CMDA Memorial Scholarship; endowments and scholarships that are awarded annually to worthy students attending post-secondary institutions in the city.

Funds from the 2014 Calgary International Auto and Truck Show provided financial support to the following charities; ALS Society of Alberta, BBB Torch Awards, Calgary Association of Parents & School Council, Calgary Flames Foundation, Calgary Food Bank, Careers the Next Generation Foundation, Feed the Hungry, Greek Festival Hospitality Venue, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Kids Cancer Care Foundation, Movember Canada, Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Prostate Cancer, Ronald McDonald House, Rotary Stay in School Program, SAIT Scholarships, SAIT, School of Transporation and Special Olympics Alberta to name a few.
