Charles G. Fraser Junior Public School was founded in 1877 as Markham Street School and in 1926 it became Charles G. Fraser Public School in honour of Principal Fraser who had been its head from 1909 to 1928.

The school currently serves over 250 students of various racial and cultural backgrounds. Charles G. Fraser offers an International Languages Programme, (Cantonese and Mandarin), after school, for two and one half hours, one day per week. The school has a child care centre for children 1.5-6 years , and a Parenting Centre. It is also one of the sites for the Board's Kindergarten Intervention Program. Charles G. Fraser has a very active music programme (Vocal, Band, Strings, Choirs).
