More about Clinic Psychology Manitoba

Our Philosophy

“There is no health without mental health”.
– World Health Organization

In the same way that we must pay attention to our physical health, it is critical for our overall health that we also pay attention to our mental health. Our minds and bodies are inexplicably tied together, and we at Clinic Psychology Manitoba are dedicated to working with our clients and patients to improve their overall health by addressing a variety of issues in mental health that we specialize in. In the same way that we can improve our physical health by being mindful of it, and engaging in behaviors to improve it (e.g., eating well and exercising) we can also improve our mental health by being aware of and practicing the small but consistent things we can do in our everyday lives, that can lead to positive experiences with our mental health.

We utilize evidence based treatment strategies such as cognitive behavioral therapy. The concept behind cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT for short, is that we address the entire aspect of human experience including a person’s feelings, thoughts or cognitions, and the related behaviors or actions. This conceptualization takes into account a person’s experiences, in the past, or present, and the impact these experiences have on how we feel now. It helps us challenge negative thinking patterns, and change behaviors and avoidances to improve how we feel. This perspective takes into account the things we can do in the here and now, the practical steps we can take to improve the quality of our experiences and our emotions. Even in the case where difficulties may be at times genetic, CBT helps us engage in a process to helps us overcome and moderate a broad range of difficulties.

CBT is a well researched and scientifically validated treatment, developed over 40 years of research and practice. After assessing your situation through a clinical assessment, we make use of CBT, tailoring it to your situation so you can make the most benefit from it.
