Community Care:
•Community Care is assisting an average of 1850 households per month in St. Catharines and Thorold. 53% will be children.
•New clients registering are on the increase.
•We are distributing approximately 4,000 pounds of food daily, PER DAY, 5 days a week. The value applied would be approximately $10,000 per day.
•Food is distributed on a bi-monthly basis however no request is denied and emergency bags are provided as needed.
Housing Help:
•In 2012, the Housing Help Centre worked with 1,155 youth, 16 to 24 years of age, who were either homeless or at imminent risk of being homeless. 60% were female.
•In 2012, 11,248 people came through the doors of Housing Help, without appointments, and 13,367 phone calls were received. Assistance included housing/homelessness issues, landlord/tenant concerns, income application processes, and utility, identification, and communication assistance-including navigating vital systems …amongst other struggles.
