More about Danielle Sciara Art

When I look into the eyes of an animal,
I do not see an animal.
I see a living being.
I see a friend.
I feel a soul.
~ Anthony Douglas Williams

This single quote describes my work as an artist. Working with and living with animals my entire life, I have always loved them deeply, and until I met my now vegan friends, sanctuary friends and activist friends, I thought I was the only person I knew who felt this way. My animals have always been more than companions; they are my family, my children. My art reflects what I see when I look into their eyes, and I hope those that see my paintings will see what I see. I paint everything from pets, farm animals and wild animals, all close up, all with special detail on their eyes and if they portray how I see them.

I paint in acrylic, I sketch, and I am currently trying pastels. I have painted my entire life, but just recently have decided to share my work, and I couldn’t be happier. I began sketching and painting at the age of 8, taking weekly art classes at an art store in Streetsville, Ontario. I was introduced to a number of mediums, from pencil and pastel to acrylics and oils. Some of the work I completed when I was young age are still displayed in homes of my family and friends.

I am an active volunteer at Snooters Farm Animal Sanctuary as well as occasional at Wishing Well Farm Sanctuary. I share my home with many non-human animals including my potbellied pig Annie who played a huge role in changing my life, and the life of my long-time boyfriend Bob. My portrait of her will be a part of my display. She is a special girl and she touches everyone she meets deeply, many of which are now questioning their choices in life as well.
