Downtown with Dickens

In the Spring of 1842, Charles Dickens and his wife travelled to Canada, entering at Niagara Falls, crossing over to Toronto and then “the vessel in which the Dickens party sailed from Toronto to Kingston was a larger but less elegant steamer than Captain Richardson's Transit.

So, taking one’s imagination on that trip, we know that Dickens passed Trenton, perhaps we can imagine that he actually got off the steamer and came upon the characters that he was later to write about in his “little Christmas Book”.
