You will see two terms describing shutters. "Custom shutters" and "Custom made shutters." A company selling "Custom shutters" may take a pre-built shutter and cut it down to fit your window. This can result in a shutter that does not fit your window correctly.

Eclipse® plantation shutters are opened and closed using a Patented Tilt-Bar. It's the tilt-bar that makes it possible to enjoy bright sunlight one moment and a darkened room the next, depending on whether the louvers are opened or closed. This look is the most common among homes with traditional design and decor. Whether you're lucky enough to live in a home with fantastic views or you simply enjoy bird-watching in your backyard, shutters with the Clearview® tilt system are the ideal choice for you. With no center tilt-bar, your view will be completely unobstructed. Most plantation shutters have a tilt-bar running vertically down their center. It's this tilt-bar that allows for simple, one-touch control for opening and closing the louvers. The optional Clearview® system, however, performs the same function as a tilt-bar, but is hidden on the back hinge side of the panel. You can adjust them simply by touching one of the louvers. Rear tilt control provides an unobstructed view and a clean, contemporary look.
