Equimat North America was established in 2003 when Canadian Grand Prix dressage riders Jill Giese and John Dingle returned from over a decade of breeding and training horses in Europe. With the vision to build a world-class sporthorse facility in the beautiful mountain valley of Pemberton, BC – John and Jill explored every mat and bedding product available on the North American market to use for the construction of their new stable. Nothing they found could compare to the rubber stall mat that they’d been using for over a decade in Europe – Equimat, the number one matting product in Europe known for its therapeutic, lightweight and highly durable qualities. So convinced were they that this was a product worth bringing overseas for their new facility, Jill and John signed the deal right then and became the exclusive distributors of Equimat in North America.

Dreamcatcher Meadows, Jill and John’s Hanoverian Breeding and Training Facility in Pemberton, BC has since established itself as one of the top sporthorse breeding facilities in the world. Named North America’s number one sporthorse breeder three years in a row, their stables, breeding facility and round pen walls are all proudly equipped with Equimats. Their unique interlocking design ensures that each application is the right fit, and vet-approved therapeutic quality ensures that every horse gets the rehabilitative rest that he/she deserves. With portable show stall sets now available, Jill and John are able to take their Equimats with them everywhere they go – a massive performance advantage at top level competitions where the footing for temporary stabling can be questionable, and at clinics where appropriate rest for your animal is key. Their decades of horse experience and passion for animal welfare eventually led to innovation – in 2008, Equimat North America introduced a line of hygienic anti-fatigue products that benefit both animals and humans, Ultimat and Multimat. With veterinarians seeing a marked difference in the speed by which an animal is able to recover, these products have become a go-to choice for rehabilitation clinics and veterinary facilities. A time-tested product that won the Best Innovative Equine Product award when introduced to the Canadian market at Spruce Meadows in 2004, thousands of Equimat and Farmats have been enjoyed since by horse lovers across North America.

In 2017, Equimat North America was proud to announce the expansion of their horse care product offering with the launch of retail partnership with Scotty Firefighter products for home and farm use. When a wildfire threatened Dreamcatcher Meadows in 2009, a forced evacuation led them to discover Scotty products. Since surviving this disaster, Jill and John have passionately moved to share their knowledge with the horse community about stable preparedness, fire prevention and equine safety. They believe that there is no better time to inform yourself and ask: What would I do if a fire threatened? With the belief that being prepared is key and confident in a line of products that they know work, Jill and John extend Scotty Firefighter products to the equestrian community.
