“Live adventure games” – of which escape rooms are a subset – are live-action, team-based games where players discover clues and solve puzzles in one or more rooms in order to achieve a specific objective (usually escape the room) within a set period of time. These games require teamwork, communication, critical thinking, attention to detail and lateral thinking; they are accessible to a wide range of players and are not gender biased. These games create opportunities for players to engage directly with each other in the same way that tabletop board games do.
