Everyday Magic Children's Center

Everyday Magic Children’s Center is licensed as Multi Age Child Care and operates under the provincial Child Care Licensing Regulation. We offer preschool and kinder-prep programming with the benefits of longer hours (715am-530pm).

Everyday Magic Children’s Center is a unique childcare program taught by husband and wife team Andrea and Heath Zander. Heath and Andrea live in Valleycliffe with their two daughters, Ella and Jade.

Andrea is a certified Early Childhood Educator, Infant/Toddler Educator and Special Needs Educator with over fifteen years experience in the Child Care field. She also holds valid First Aid and Food Safe Certificates. Andrea specializes in social and emotional development through creative, imaginative education.

Heath is a certified Early Childhood Educator and Biologist with over fifteen years experience in the childcare field. He is also certified in first aid and food safe. Heath specializes in outdoor education and using its benefits to promote physical, cognitive, language and social skills as well as emotional development.

Both Andrea and Heath are committed to providing a loving, caring learning environment that meets and exceeds the needs of children and families.

MISSION STATEMENT

Everyday Magic Children’s Center Educators nurture and guide young children as they explore and investigate their interests. We provide a balance of activities that help children to progress in their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
We respect and value the uniqueness and contribution of all children and families. Through collaboration with parents our center is able to develop a quality childcare community.

PHILOSOPHY

Everyday Magic Children’s Center’s Educators are committed to keeping up-to-date with current trends and teaching practices in the early childhood education field. Our philosophies are; therefore, ever evolving as we learn new things about our field, the children and families, and ourselves. The following is our philosophical foundation:
- Children are encouraged to question, to be self-reliant and to be respectful of the rights and differences of others. Children learn through their experiences as they grow in confidence and competence. Child guidance is always positive and nurturing.
- Families are involved in a meaningful way in their childcare experience. Families are assured of quality care for their child.
- Educators are entitled to a work environment that recognizes and respects their training, skills and commitment to early childhood care and education.
- The childcare community plays a vital role in supporting the development of healthy families. There is recognition of partnerships among educators, families and the community. Educators, families and the community work skillfully to meet the needs of the individual child and the group in an environment that is creative, stimulating, flexible, predictable and that fosters trust, security and comfort. Fostering a partnership with all families by maintaining open communication, exchanging information, sharing resources, and providing a variety of opportunities for families to become involved in Everyday Magic Children’s Center.

Facilitating play as the child’s primary mode of learning which fosters curiosity, initiative, independence, self-esteem, decision making, problem-solving, and communication skills as well as positive interaction with and respect for others.

Assisting children in their social development by facilitating new friendships, life skills, and modeling positive interaction with others, emotionally by facilitating the expression of feeling in a positive way, physically by encouraging participation with both small and large muscle activities, intellectually by providing stimulating activities that support pre-reading, writing and math skills, and creatively by providing opportunities to express themselves through a variety of play and art activities.

Encouraging advocacy by collaborating with agencies in the community to provide the best possible resources for supporting the children and their families.
