About me, Services and Rates:

My name is Jes. I’ve been an animal lover my whole life. I’ve always felt a special connection with them and I’ve always believed that they deserve equal love and affection. I have a huge heart for animals and I am conscientious, compassionate and caring.

I’ve been a dog walking volunteer at the SPCA for the last 2 years, this has developed my confidence with many different breeds and temperaments. It has also allowed me to engage with the dogs at a rough time in their lives and it has taught me patience, how to build trust and read dog “language”.

I also worked as a pet sitter when I lived in Edmonton, AB. If I can walk dogs in Edmonton weather, I can manage any kind of Kamloops weather. I still remember many of my fur clients, because they leave an indelible mark on your heart! I had many unique experiences in that job; from walking a cat on a leash to caring for dogs, cats, chinchillas, guinea pigs, and fish all in one house! It was a lot of fun!

I have always had animals growing up, my family had dogs and cats and I had many hamsters and gerbils and fish.
Currently I have two dogs and one kitty. Fuzz is my 10 year old Chihuahua, Bean is my 14 year old diluted calico kitty, and Hoss is the newest addition to my fur family. He is my 4 year old “yellow ribbon” dog. I adopted him from the SPCA about a year after I started volunteering; he stole my heart for sure! He has fear-based dog aggression that is a work in progress, he has no problem at all with Fuzz, he LOVES Fuzz! If only Fuzz would love him back! We have been able to get him comfortable with some dogs by way of walking with them. At home he is a well-behaved, loving, relaxed, good natured dog, I wouldn’t trade him for the world!

What services I offer:

Dog walking:

This could be a walk around the neighbourhood, a drive to their favourite dog park, or a hike in the hills if they are accessible. I will keep to whatever routine or training regime they may be used too as well to keep their learning consistent and to help them remain relaxed.

Animal care and House checks for vacationers:

Dogs: Walks, dog parks, hikes, playing fetch, fresh food and water, belly rubs, cuddles, lap time, basically whatever your dogs’ routine may involve. I am comfortable with any breed of dog, small, medium, or large!
(*If you have a “Yellow Ribbon” dog please give me a call and we can discuss your situation. I am open to working with any dog as long as it is determined that it would be a good fit for the dog.)

Cats: Kitties get lots of cuddles; play time with toys, kitty box cleaning, fresh food and water, brushing, basically whatever your kitties’ routine may be.

Small animals: Hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas, guinea pigs, bunnies etc. Cage cleaning, fresh food and water, cuddle time if they like that, out of the cage time if they like that.

Birds: Cage cleaning, fresh food and water, chatting, snuggling if they like.

Reptiles/Snakes: Cage cleaning, fresh food and water (NO live feeding), cuddles, bath time if they like that

Fish: Feeding, I can make fish faces at them! (I can do tank cleanings but only if absolutely necessary.)

All of the above services include the house check. I will check all windows and doors, appliances- furnace, hot water heater etc., water your plants, bring in your mail, change curtains/lights or whatever you request. I am also comfortable dealing with home security systems. I also do a house check only service.

House cleaning:

I am meticulous, fast and hardworking and I have and intense eye for detail.
Kitchens, bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, mopping.
Special projects on request

Regular cleaning (2 hour minimum)=$25 an hour

Rates:

If you are interested in hiring me I will come to your home first for a free meet and greet with your animal family to see if I would be a good fit for your needs! There is no obligation in this meeting.

Since every situation is unique I do my quotes on an individual basis, please call or message me and I would be happy to discuss a cost for you.
The following information is needed to help determine your quote:
-how many pets (indicate dog, cat, other)
-are there walks required
-where are you in the city
-how long you would like me to spend with them
-frequency of visits
-are there any special needs i.e. medications, behavioural issues

10% discount if you book 2 visits a day for 7 consecutive days or more.
