God's Little Acre Farm

God's Little Acre's farm is located at 16583 40th Ave., Surrey. This is a business started by one man with nothing and the businesses main purpose is to generate a profit so it can give away as much food as possible!

In 2011, God’s Little Acre was a 30 acre hay field. Leaving the corporate world behind, Jas Singh took on the challenge of turning this hay field into a potato field for those in need

Following a vision, Jas undertakes a farming venture for the needy. At the time he acquired the farm ($1) lease....he had $120 to his name and the only asset owned was a pick up truck which was broken down so he was borrowing a vehicle from a friend. With one working tractor and one clutch less one, he borrowed machinery from local farms, financed seed potato and acquired fertilizer that was picked up off the pavement at a loading facility. Gods Little Acre was born.

In its first year, the farm gave away 62,000 lbs. of potatoes to the Surrey Food Bank. At the time, Jas was working at another farm to help a sick friend and would work his farm by himself from 6pm till midnight every day.

In 2012, a group of individuals tried but failed to raise the necessary $10,000 to farm 8 acres so Jas truck drove on the weekends, farmed during the week and managed to grow 8 acres of vegetables of which he gave away 70,000 lbs. to the Surrey Food bank.

In 2013 GLA expanded to 34 acres and gave away over 200,000 lbs. of product. The farm still had no seeder and was hand seeded.

Since then, the farm has given away 500,000 lbs. of free produce to needy people focusing on soup kitchens and individuals and large grass routes groups like "sparks" and "One More Time" charity. Hundreds of individuals come to the farm for free products.

The farm has successfully and through many challenges entered it's 6th year now. "The non Profits....some of them don't like my zero admin policy" If you donate to this farm, which you can (jaspayit@hotmail.com) all the proceeds go into the farm operation and none have gone into wages for anyone....ever.

Jas does not believe that we should be making any profit on people in need.

The farm has set a simple goal to give away 100,000 lbs. of produce per year. This is done by staff and volunteers so please feel free to drop in and help! Seasonally from March to November 1st. Come in for a meeting if you wish to know more....
