More about HikingAddiction

HikingAddiction was spawned from a serious need for a free activity group specializing in a demographic that younger adults could relate to. When HikingAddiction founder Josh Hoggan first moved to Kelowna and had researched his options, nothing fell into that category. Within one year of starting the group, it now reaches a community of over 1600 individuals with anywhere between 10 and 50 participating per hike. The interest in the group has given us a new perspective on some of the possibilities for the future. As of , we're partnering with local businesses to offer a variety of other commercial outdoor adventure sports from private hikes and horseback riding to whitewater rafting and zip lining.

Our group is maintained by a small number of volunteers, but it is widely group-operated and all members are welcome to host hikes and contribute in any way. There is no fee for joining, and absolutely no commitment. However, if you are visiting from out of town, or do not wish to join larger group events, and would like to request a guide for a private hike please contact us.

If you're looking for a scenic walk to take some great photos, a more challenging uphill adventure for personal fitness, or are just interested in exploring the outdoors, join us all throughout the sunnier months. We recommend bringing proper hiking attire for every hike, which should include a water bottle, small snack, sturdy pair of shoes with good tread or hiking boots, and optionally hiking poles. Check the weather forecast before heading out, and prepare for all possible scenarios - most importantly, muddy trails.

At least once per summer we will organize a big group hiking and camping trip somewhere in British Columbia. This will include a full day-long hike as well as an overnight stay in a fully serviced campground. In July 2011, we headed to Three Brother's Mountain in Manning Park for a 26km day hike through alpine meadows, past glacial pools, and along scenic ridge-lines with views of the valley. We camped at Lightning Lakes which offered a full suite of canoes and warm showers!
