Holy Cross Zorianka Ukrainian Dancers

The Holy Cross Zorianka Ukrainian Dancers celebrated 35 years of dance in 2012. The group began in 1977 under the name of Holy Cross Dancers and from it's inception has developed into a group of young, vibrant individuals who promote our Ukrainian culture. The Holy Cross Zorianka Ukrainain Dancers are a self-governing, non-profit socitey dedicated to the preservation of Ukrainian culture through the development of Ukrainian folk dances.

Our dance school is comprised of eight different groups of dancers ages 4 and up. Zorianka's program of activities enriches each dancer culturally, musically, physically and socially in all aspects of Ukrainian folk art. Through the efforts and high-calibre instruction of our Artistic Director, Volodya Makarov, each dancer, beginning with our Novices, receives a balanced teaching of ballet, technique and discipline thus not only progressing in skill and confidence but also in strength, commitment and dedication.

October 2002 marked the beginning of our newest group, The Holy Cross Zoriasvit Ukrainian Adult Dancers. This group is open to all adults of Ukrainian or non-Ukrainian background, experienced or not in Ukrainian dance. Artistic Director, Volodya Makarov makes these classes a fun and exciting experience for all of the dancers. During the Monday night exercise class, Volodya teaches not only Ukrainian dance techniques but also an array of other various dances including swing, foxtrot and mamba to name a few.

The group is run by a dedicated group of parents and volunteers who are committed in keeping a sense of culture, community and fellowship. They are the backbone of this organization and they continue to effortlessly contribute their time, talents and friendships to this dance group.
