Deep Tissue Massage Therapy aims to release chronic patterns of tension in the body and is the result of specific massage techniques combined with experience and expert knowledge of anatomy.
Deep tissue work is not necessarily about the amount of pressure applied by the therapist. It's true intention is to work on all layers of the body’s soft tissues, particularly the structure that covers and encases them - the fascia. Injury, illness or prolonged immobility can cause fascia to become stiff, hardened or stuck to adjacent structures. This can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation.
Deep tissue massage works by physically releasing the fascia to relieve pain, restore normal function and achieve a lasting result.
Although some areas may be sensitive to massage, I will communicate with you throughout the treatment to ensure that the amount of pressure I apply remains within your comfort level.
