More about Kahnawake United Church

KUC is a historical and living protestant faith community that welcomes both those from Kahnawake and beyond for worship, fellowship, learning, and outreach.
We worship together every Sunday at 10:30am in our beautiful historical stone church, and on special services such as Christmas eve. We use both English and Mohawk language in the services, (though you don't have to know them both to come). The service follows a traditional protestant format, with contemporary theology, a mix of old and new music, and creative ways to engage our faith.
Leadership is provided by Diaconal minister, Marcie Gibson, organist Marlene Scott, and members of the congregation.

Youth programs, bible study, and seasonal children's programs are offered on special days - keep posted or give us a call to hear about upcoming opportunities.

While we don't have a separate Sunday School at the moment, children are most welcome to join in services, and craft supplies and toys are provided for busy fingers and busy minds.

As well as regular services and programs, we provide pastoral care to any community members. This includes, but is not limited to, funerals, baptisms, hospital visits, counseling, mediation, historic church record research, and designing services or rituals to mark special occasions and life passages (such as a wedding or welcoming new family).

We host regular fundraising / community fellowship events such as the fall Christmas bazaar, summer picnic, and golf tournaments; and participate in wider community events such as Remembrance Day, the annual cemetery service (September), World Day of Prayer, and community or cultural celebrations.

KUC is part of the United Church of Canada - a union between Presbyterians, Methodists and Congregationalist in 1925. Within the United Church, we are members of the All Native Circle Conference (and Great Lakes Waterways Presbytery); a coalition of aboriginal congregations across the country.

While KUC is rooted in the Christian tradition and protestant faith, we welcome interfaith families. We understand spirituality as much broader than any one tradition, and celebrate our connections with other traditions in the community.
