My name is Kelly King and I am the founder & CEO of King Accounting Services, Chartered Professional Accountants. I have been in public practice for almost 20 years and I truly love the work that I do. As awful as it may sound to some, working with spreadsheets, getting accounts reconciled and analyzing financial results is actually fun for me! I am passionate about making the numbers correct and looking for legitimate ways to save clients money or to improve their business operations.
I always planned for making my way into a partnership at an accounting firm, but recent events in my life made me plunge into the dark, scary abyss of running my own accounting firm instead. Basically, I fell in love with a man but I was unable to relocate my children to be with him. They live in Nipawin, and my husband & I now own a house in Martensville. I needed to come up with a way to be with my children in Nipawin part of the time and also begin my future life with my husband in Martensville. So, I decided to start my own firm and service clients from both of my homes in Nipawin and Martensville. It is difficult to split my time between the 2 communities, but living without my kids or without my husband would be impossible for me to bear.
Currently, I hold a CPA designation, CGA designation, Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Praxis School of Entrepreneurship certificate. Additionally, I have almost 20 years of practical experience with various firms, one benefit of which has been to leave me flexible and adaptable to various ways of getting the same job done. I have learned many different systems, from paper based ledgers to specialized operating systems, and most everything in between. I have developed a knack for picking up on systems and finding faster and better ways to do tasks or jobs. I firmly believe that having your records prepared properly and understanding what they mean is a critical part of being a successful business.
