More about Lafave Osteopathy

About Jason:

I completed a bachelors degree in Exercise Science with a specialization in Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2007. Upon returning to Brockville, I began work at the Brockville and Area YMCA doing personal training. While at the YMCA, I created a cardiac rehabilitation program, as well as a neuromuscular rehabilitation program.

In 2009, I had a continued desire to continue my education in rehabilitation. I felt I needed to add more tools to help bring health to those I worked with. I enrolled in the 5 year Traditional Osteopathy program at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto. In 2014, I successfully completed my 5th year final written and practical exam which allowed my to begin my thesis. In November 2015, I defended my thesis entitled "The Effect of Global Osteopathic Treatment on Migraine without Aura".

About Osteopathy:

Although osteopathy is a fairly new idea in our area, it is not a new form of rehabilitation and is quite common in larger centers such as Toronto and Montreal.

Osteopathy uses gentle manual therapy techniques to help remove pain and dysfunction in the body. As osteopathic manual practitioners, we strive to assess and treat the body globally to return the body to health rather than chase symptoms. Many different forms of treatment techniques may be used including myofascial/soft tissue, osteoarticular, cranial and visceral.

Osteopathy may be helpful to help conditions such as, but not limited to:
- Musculoskeletal pain (neck, back, sports, overuse, car accidents)
- Headaches
- Systematic disorders (respiratory, digestive, genitourinary etc.)
- Vertigo
- TMJ (jaw) pain

What to expect at your appointment?

Appointments are 60 minutes in length. At your initial appointment, a complete history will be taken as well as a physical assessment. Subsequent visits will include manual therapy treatment for most of the appointment.

If you're interested if osteopathy may be of benefit, please email or call!
