More about Lincoln County Rabbit Rescue Centre

Lincoln County Rabbit Rescue Centre.

LCRR is a no-kill Rescue Centre, this means we either adopt/foster them out, or they stay with us.

Over 50 rabbits are found outside yearly, especially around Easter time. Numbers of rescues during Easter skyrocket due to Impulse buyers for young children as Novelty Gifts. Rabbits are a 8-10 Year Commitment!

As a Not-for-Profit Rescue, we rely on Donations from our Community and beyond. We appreciate each and every donation we receive, often with a hand written Thank You from one of our resident furry friend!

When a Rabbit owner dump (or “set free”) a domesticated rabbit, and the rabbit is lucky, we hear about it. We then quickly dispatch a Volunteer Rescue Crew to save the defenceless Rabbit (s). A “Furry Alert” (as we call it) is issued by Text/E-Mail with the appearance, location, notable behaviours or patterns observed. A time is setup and the Rescue Crew is dispatched to the area with Pens and Carrier (s) to save the Rabbit.

Domesticated Rabbits are not able to defend or gather food on their own! They are usually not spayed/neutered. A rabbits gestation period is anywhere from 30-35 days, this means they can give birth to a litter of bunnies every month! Then you have anywhere from 2-10 kits (bunnies) in danger as well, not only from other animals, but from vehicles on roadways!

LCRR also serves as the ONLY Rabbit/Small Animal Hotel while you go on Vacation in the Niagara Region! For a small daily fee, we house, feed, and socialize your furry Family Member. We know that these are not just Pets, but a part of your Family! And they are treated as such.

LCRR is looking to use the funds raised here to expand our Rescue Centre/Hotel and Medical Expenses of the rescued Rabbits. Most Rabbits we rescue have been hurt and have an immediate need for medical attention.

Please find it in your Heart to donate to LCRR to help us continue the Rescue efforts to Protect those that can not Protect themselves!
