Little Bee Dayhome and Childcare

I am a mom and experienced teacher with 10 years of teaching, and prior to that 5 years of nannying experience, under my belt. I have my Child Development Supervisor Certificate and a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.

I love teaching, but a dream of mine has always been to be self-employed and start up a Dayhome and Preschool. I recently had a baby, and realized it was the perfect time to start pursuing that dream so I can do what I love, and be with the little guy I love at the same time!

My background in teaching ranges from preschool to high school, with the majority of my experience in the early years and music. I taught for several years at a school with a Reggio Emilia focus, which deeply impacted my view of early childhood education and care. My focus when teaching and caring for young children is on play and child-led learning. In a nut shell this means the children are learning through their specific interests and engaging in learning opportunities through play, play, and more play! I use a lot of natural materials in my learning centers, encourage daily art(not just crafts!)and music, and daily outdoor play and exploration.

We live in a beautiful, safe community half way between Strathmore and Calgary. Perfect for anyone living out of town, or for easy drop off on your commute into the city! There is an amazing park in our community as well as lots of open space! I have a Zoo membership and when weather permits love to take outings to Strathmore and Chestermere to visit the splash park, the beach, and the library.

I dare say I am an excellent cook and breakfasts, snacks and lunch can be provided. Safe and comfortable nap area available (not just a mat on the floor!) We do have a smaller dog in the house. She has been raised with kids and is very gentle. She spends a lot of the day sleeping in "her room" (the mud room!)
